Amazon in talks to buy AI startup Decart for about $7 billion

According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon is in talks to buy AI startup Decart, with a potential value of about $7 billion. Decart is based in San Francisco, and insiders say the deal could close soon if talks go well and no new bidders show up.

Decart builds software that helps developers switch smoothly between different AI chips. As big tech companies race for computing power, this kind of basic software is becoming more and more important.

PitchBook data shows Decart has raised over $400 million from investors like Sequoia Capital and Benchmark, and was valued near $4 billion in May. Anthropic once talked about buying Decart for about $6 billion, but gave up in September.
