AMD CEO Sees CPU Market Topping $200 Billion by 2030
AMD CEO Lisa Su said at the Open Compute Project Global Summit that the rise of AI agents is driving fast CPU demand growth, and AMD is upbeat about the CPU market.
She expects the CPU market to grow about 50% a year over the next 4 to 5 years, topping $200 billion by 2030. Just a year ago, the CPU market was only around $20 billion, with single-digit growth expected. AMD has raised its forecast three times in the past 9 months.
She also expects the data center AI accelerator market to hit nearly $1.5 trillion by 2030, calling 2026 "the real year of inference." AI inference will take about 60% of the market, with agent workloads booming.
On deliveries, AMD started shipping Helios systems in September, with the first units going to data centers of OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, and Anthropic. Output will keep ramping up from Q4 into the first half of next year.
