AMD Teams Up with Korean AI Chip Firms in Seoul

AMD has signed a memorandum of understanding with two Korean chip companies, FuriosaAI and MangoBoost, in Seoul. The three will build an open ecosystem for mixed AI computing.

They plan to set up their first test cluster in Seoul next spring. It will combine AMD's CPUs and GPUs, FuriosaAI's RNGD NPU, and MangoBoost's BoostX DPU. Each AI task gets the best hardware fit, which boosts overall efficiency.

Mixed computing means using different types of chips together, so each handles what it does best. This is a key trend in AI infrastructure.

MangoBoost also plans to use AMD's Instinct GPU accelerators in its AI factory. Earlier, AMD agreed with the Korean government to open an AI research center in Korea.
