Anthropic Employees Expect AI to Handle 80% of Their Work by 2030
According to Business Insider, a new Anthropic study compared survey results from American adults and 1,334 of its own employees. The two groups see AI replacing jobs very differently.
Most Anthropic employees expect at least 80% of their work to be done by AI by 2030, while only about 5% of American workers agree. Employees also predict AI could handle 95% of the work needed to build a new AI model by 2030. On jobs, most employees expect US unemployment to top 12% in 2030, while most workers think it will stay around 8% or below. It is 4.2% now.
Chief economist Peter McCrory said Anthropic is about a year and a half ahead of the wider economy in using AI, so changes inside the company may hint at what comes next. Workers in trades, production, and transport expect AI to take over the least work.
The gap may come from employees having bigger AI budgets and early access to unreleased models. Studies have not yet agreed on how hard AI will hit the job market.
