Anthropic Eyes UK Startup Fractile's Inference Chips as Fourth AI Computing Resource, Targeting 2027 Deployment

Anthropic is considering using inference chips from UK-based startup Fractile as its fourth AI computing resource, alongside NVIDIA GPUs, Amazon Trainium, and Google TPUs, with a target deployment year of 2027. Negotiations are still in early stages.

Fractile's chips use a unique 'analog memory computing' architecture, different from current mainstream AI XPUs. They claim a 25x speed increase and 90% cost reduction when running top models. The startup previously received investment from former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger.
