Apple iPhone Duo completes AI model registration in China, Qwen to power Apple Intelligence

Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, has finished its final licensing steps for the China market after adding AI model registrations, clearing the last hurdle for its AI features to launch.

Filing records show the device is registered with three AI models: Apple Intelligence, Tongyi Wanxiang, and Qwen. Apple Intelligence is designed for iPhones, so AI features may arrive sooner for users in China.

Alibaba confirmed that Qwen will be built into Apple Intelligence for users on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS in China. People can use Qwen's text and image understanding and content generation without switching between apps.

The iPhone Duo opens for pre-orders in China on October 16 at 8 pm and goes on sale on October 23, starting at 15,999 yuan.
