Apple's Smart Home Hardware Director Leaves to Join Oura, Unreleased Products Impacted
Brian Lynch, Apple's senior director of hardware engineering for home devices, has left to join Oura Health as senior vice president of hardware engineering. Lynch spent over 20 years at Apple, participating in iPod development, the autonomous car project, and leading home device hardware since 2022.
At his departure, several products he oversaw were unreleased: an AI and face recognition smart home display (delayed due to Siri's restructuring, now set for September 2026), a desktop robot with a 9-inch movable screen, and home security sensors (planned for next year). This is the second senior change in the team recently; Apple has seen multiple exec departures lately, and Oura previously hired talent from Apple's health and design teams.
