Bezos' Project Prometheus Nears $10 Billion Funding Round, Valued at $38 Billion
Jeff Bezos' Project Prometheus, focusing on AI applications in the physical world, is close to completing a $10 billion funding round with a valuation of $38 billion, potentially becoming one of the world's largest early-stage startups by funding size. JPMorgan and BlackRock are among the investors, and the funding scale expanded from an initial $6.2 billion due to strong investor demand.
The project's core is to develop AI systems that understand physical laws, applied to engineering, manufacturing and other physical industries. Headquartered in San Francisco, it has recruited hundreds of AI scientists and industry experts. Bezos is deeply involved in the company in an operational role for the first time since stepping down as Amazon CEO in 2021, and has also hired former OpenAI employees to lead infrastructure projects.
