BrainCo expects big sales growth for bionic hands as Chinese robot makers buy more
As China's humanoid robot industry grows fast, BrainCo sees a big jump in demand for its bionic hands. He Xiyujin, a partner at the company, says dozens of Chinese robot makers like Unitree and Leju Robot are buying its five-finger dexterous hands, and sales are expected to rise sharply this year.
BrainCo started with prosthetic hands that help disabled people control fingers with brain signals to do things like play the piano. It also makes headbands that use brain-computer interfaces to help with conditions like autism and insomnia. Now, the company is shifting focus from just showing off tech to finding real uses for robots.
He says BrainCo is working on a brain-computer treatment that could copy some of the appetite-suppressing effects of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, with a launch expected by late 2027 or 2028. "We believe brain-computer interfaces and embodied intelligence can combine, and robots controlled by human brains will be the future," he says. But humanoid robots still face big challenges, like making robotic hands that can grab and handle objects as well as human hands.
