ByteDance Pauses Global Launch of Seedance 2.0 Due to Copyright Disputes
ByteDance has recently paused the global launch plan of its latest video generation model Seedance 2.0 due to copyright disputes. The disputes arise from intellectual property conflicts with several major Hollywood studios and streaming platforms, including Disney, which accused the model of using its character materials without authorization.
Disney sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance last month, claiming that Seedance 2.0 pre-installed a library of pirated copyrighted characters covering IPs like Star Wars and Marvel. ByteDance originally planned to launch the model in mid-March and is now resolving potential legal issues through legal checks and technical upgrades (adding protective mechanisms).
