ByteDance to Launch Seedance 2.1: 20% Better Video Generation, Google's Gemini Omni Joins Competition
ByteDance is preparing to release Seedance 2.1, an updated AI video generation model. Its quality is 20% better than the 2.0 version, with improvements in frame visual consistency and physical simulation of generated scenes. Researchers also incorporated feedback from hundreds of thousands of 2.0 users.
Seedance 2.1 is expected to be integrated into ByteDance's content creation tool suite, including the popular video editing app CapCut. Currently, Seedance holds over 80% of the AI video generation market share, leading other competitors.
Google officially launched the Gemini Omni model at the 2026 I/O Developer Conference. It claims to "generate any output from any input" and supports conversational editing—users can change characters or backgrounds in videos with a single sentence, becoming a new competitor in the AI video generation field.
