ChatGPT can now make GIFs, with 4 billion images created weekly

ChatGPT now supports GIF creation. Users can make animated images with prompts or by uploading photos. The update comes with OpenAI's new Images 2.6 model, letting users change animation speed, edit single frames, and share the results.

Before this, ChatGPT couldn't make GIFs natively in one step. For example, ask it to "make a dancing cat GIF" and it creates the animation, with options to switch playback speed and view it frame by frame. The feature is rolling out to all ChatGPT and Codex users on web, desktop, and mobile.

Images 2.6 also speeds up image creation. Users now generate over 4 billion images per week through ChatGPT and its API, up sharply from 3 billion in September. OpenAI also launched GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst models in its API for faster, higher-quality images.
