ChatGPT Launches Age Prediction Feature to Help Teens Use AI Safely

OpenAI recently launched the ChatGPT age prediction feature globally, aiming to help teen users get a safer age-appropriate AI experience. The feature judges users' age by analyzing account-related signals (such as topics discussed and usage time slots), and extra safety settings will be enabled for those under 18.

These settings include restricting interactions with sensitive content, no ads for minor accounts, and filtering harmful content like violent or bloody material, dangerous behavior inducements, inappropriate role-plays, and extreme aesthetic standards. Additionally, the system will use third-party service Persona for identity verification, requiring users to provide real-time selfies or government-issued IDs.

To comply with regulatory requirements, this feature is scheduled to launch in the EU in the coming weeks, further ensuring the safety of teens using AI.
