China's First AIGC TV Series Launches New Chapter with 30 Episodes
China's first AIGC TV series, Later Journey to the West, has a new chapter. The "Battle in Heaven Palace" part started airing on Hunan TV and Mango TV on October 4. The season has 30 episodes, each 40 minutes long, based on a novel by an unknown author from the late Ming and early Qing dynasty. The story is set 1,080 years after Sun Wukong became a saint. The holy scriptures are missing and misunderstood, and a little stone monkey is born again on Flower Fruit Mountain. After ten elders mysteriously vanish at a ceremony, the new Monkey King sets out on a second journey west to retrieve the true scriptures. The first part, with 5 episodes, ranked first in ratings among provincial TV channels in the same time slot. It is also the first drama to air while being reviewed under the new "21 rules" policy. This model shortens production time and helps creators improve the story based on feedback.
