China Upgrades Smart Education Platform and Starts AI Training for All Teachers
China's Ministry of Education held a meeting in Beijing on using AI to support teacher development. The Teacher Development Center on the national smart education platform was fully upgraded, and a nationwide AI literacy training program for teachers kicked off.
The upgraded center features a dedicated AI literacy zone, bringing together learning resources, smart tools, and teacher communities. In the first training session, teachers, principals, and education officials gave live demos showing how AI can support lesson prep, classroom teaching, student assessment, and school management, helping teachers move from learning AI to using and even creating with it.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education and four other departments proposed adding AI to teacher qualification exams and certification. By 2030, AI is expected to be deeply integrated into education, with a long-term system in place to build AI literacy for all.
