Claude Haiku 4.5 to be removed from personal plans, chats will switch to Haiku 5.5

Anthropic has announced that starting October 29, 2026, Claude Haiku 4.5 will be removed from the model picker for Free, Pro, and Max plans. This covers chat on web, desktop, and mobile, plus the Claude Cowork and Claude Design features. Before then, users can still pick it under More models.

After the change, chats set to Haiku 4.5 will automatically switch to Haiku 5.5, and existing conversations won't be deleted. The change doesn't affect Haiku 4.5 in Claude Code, Team and Enterprise plans, or the API.

Haiku 5.5 is the first Haiku model that lets users set its thinking level. It has a 1 million token context window, 128K max output, better coding and agent performance, and runs about 75% cheaper than Haiku 4.5 on average.
