Deezer Sees 44% of Daily Song Submissions as AI-Generated, Uses Detection Tools to Restrict Recommendations and Revenue
Deezer receives nearly 75,000 AI-generated song submissions daily, accounting for about 44% of total daily uploads. However, these AI songs make up only 1% to 3% of total playtime, as the platform continues to exclude them from its recommendation algorithm.
Deezer claims to be the only music streaming service that labels AI-generated tracks. It also cancels revenue sharing for AI songs and stops storing their high-resolution versions. Its CEO calls on the entire music ecosystem to act together to protect musicians' rights and improve transparency.
With the popularity of AI composition tools like Suno and Udio, major platforms have different responses: Spotify has introduced new rules, Apple Music requires labeling, Bandcamp completely bans AI music, and Qobuz automatically detects and labels it.
Since launching its detection tool in January 2025, Deezer's daily AI song uploads have soared from 10,000 to 75,000. The platform also licenses its detection tool to other enterprises, which can identify songs made by Suno and Udio, and is developing detection technology that doesn't require dataset training.
