Delaware moves to let AI agent-run companies register

Delaware, USA plans to relax business rules to let companies run by AI agents register. The draft sets a 30-month regulatory sandbox, where AI must test and make business decisions in a supervised setting.

US House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican, has written to Governor Matt Meyer with concerns. He said such AI companies could be used to shield wealthy AI firms and investors from being held responsible for reckless and harmful actions.

Under the draft, AI companies can be sued and can also file lawsuits, just like normal firms. Law professor Andrew Baker from the University of California said the legislation seeks a middle ground, giving legal certainty to companies created by AI agents.
