Hyundai Group Invests 9 Trillion Won in Saemangeum AI Data Center Due 2030
On October 30, Hyundai Motor Group officially opened a new office, taking a key step toward building the Saemangeum AI data center.
The center will rise in Gunsan, South Korea, backed by about 9 trillion won, or roughly 44.8 billion yuan. It is the core project of the "Saemangeum AI Valley". Back in September, the group set up a special company to build the first 200 MW solar power phase, which will feed green power to the center.
In November, the group plans to set up two more special companies with five units, including Hyundai Motor and Kia. One will handle construction, while the other will secure high-end GPU power and run cloud services.
Building starts in March 2027, with services due in early 2030. The center will power AI work in self-driving, robotics, and car engineering.
