Dell CEO says AI models need safety rules and government oversight
For weeks, researchers and industry experts have been debating the risks of AI models that can improve themselves. The debate started when a former Anthropic researcher posted a warning in September, saying top AI labs are 'gambling with our lives' in the race toward superintelligence.
According to CNBC, Dell CEO Michael Dell responded that AI models must have safety measures and controls, and governments should play a role. He also thinks AI tool developers should set clear limits.
Dell used fire as an example: 'Fire can warm your home, but it can also burn down a whole village, so we must control it.' In his view, some technologies can bring big benefits but also bad results, so proper rules are the key.
