Dragon Quest 10 Introduces Google Gemini AI Assistant as 'Chatty Slime' to Accompany Players
New players of the 14-year-old Dragon Quest 10 often struggle to figure out where to start. To fix this, the game is adding an AI companion named 'Chatty Slime' to guide and accompany players.
Powered by Google Gemini, this AI can chat proactively with players, recommend suitable game content, and give personalized answers based on their play history. It uses the low-latency Gemini Live API and multimodal capabilities to understand player actions and on-screen info, generate voice responses, and access game data with memory functions to create replies fitting the Dragon Quest universe.
Currently, Chatty Slime is in closed beta on Dragon Quest 10's Japanese server until March 30.
