Elon Musk says he's had AI psychosis six times in a year
According to Business Insider, Elon Musk admitted at the X Takeover event that he has "cyber psychosis," and it might be pretty serious. Over the past year, he estimates he went through "AI psychosis" about six times. SI refers to "superintelligence," the term US President Trump uses for AI.
"AI psychosis" isn't an official medical term. It usually means someone's delusions get worse after heavy AI use. The phrase started as a jab at tech folks who blindly trust AI. Some psychiatrists say AI can worsen existing mental weaknesses and lead to health issues.
Now some in tech wear the label with pride. Investor Marc Andreessen coined "AI psychosis as a service," and Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan joked that a third of the CEOs he knows have it too. For Musk, it means believing AI can truly understand beauty.
