French AI Startup Mistral AI Secures $830M Debt Funding to Build AI Data Center Near Paris

French AI startup Mistral AI recently announced it has completed an $830 million debt financing round. The funds will be used to build an AI data center in Bruyères-le-Châtel, near Paris, France. The transaction is supported by a syndicate of seven banks.

Mistral AI plans to deploy a total of 13,800 NVIDIA GB300 GPUs (44MW) in the data center, which is expected to go online in Q2 2026. CEO Arthur Mensch stated that expanding European infrastructure is crucial for empowering customers and ensuring AI innovation and autonomy remain core to Europe. The company will continue investing to meet the growing demand from governments, enterprises, and research institutions for custom AI environments.
