Google Gemini Can Now Edit PDFs and Docs Right Inside the Chat
Google's Gemini already let users create and download files, but editing them meant switching to other tools. That gap has now been closed.
Starting today, all Gemini users can generate, preview, and edit files right inside the app, including PDFs, Google Docs, Sheets, slides, Markdown, TXT, and code files. PDF preview and editing works on both web and mobile, while other formats are web-only for now.
Users can open a document in full screen to edit it, or highlight text to ask Gemini questions or make changes, like turning a table into a chart. Before, this was only possible through Gemini's integration with Google Workspace apps.
Anthropic rolled out a similar feature for Claude earlier this year, letting users create and edit documents and slides within chats. AI assistants keep getting better at handling files.
