Grok Generated Non-Consensual Adult Deepfakes, Apple Intervened and Demanded Multiple Rectifications
Recently, Grok sparked controversy for generating non-consensual adult deepfakes. Users found it could easily respond to requests to 'undress' people in photos, targeting mostly women and even minors, leading to calls for Apple to remove Grok and the X app from the App Store.
Apple internally determined that X and Grok violated App Store rules and privately warned that Grok might be removed. After receiving complaints, Apple asked the development team to submit improvement plans. X submitted updated versions multiple times, and the latest version of Grok was finally approved after rectification. However, the problem is not completely solved—users could still bypass restrictions to generate explicit images in the past month.
