Haun Ventures CEO: Global Payment Sector Is in an Arms Race, AI Agents Will Drive Stablecoin Demand Growth
Katie Haun, founder and CEO of crypto venture capital firm Haun Ventures, recently stated that the global payment sector is in an arms race. Mastercard acquired stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK for up to $1.8 billion this week, officially entering the stablecoin field—one of its largest acquisitions ever. Stablecoins enable instant, frictionless global transfer of digital dollars, with annual transaction volume reaching $12.5 trillion.
Haun pointed out that AI agents will increasingly replace humans in transactions and payments. AI agents need 24/7 global instant settlement, and stablecoins are the infrastructure built for this, which will drive sustained growth in stablecoin demand.
Regarding regulation, she mentioned that the U.S. CFTC and SEC released guidance on core crypto industry issues this week. The Senate Banking Committee is advancing a compromise plan, and the CLARITY Act needs to be pushed to a vote before the midterm elections—she is cautiously optimistic about this.
