Huawei Cloud to launch openPangu-2.1-Pro flagship model on November 15

Huawei Cloud's MaaS platform has announced that its new flagship model, openPangu-2.1-Pro, will officially go live on November 15. Earlier reports that Huawei Cloud was completely stopping sales of its Pangu AI models turned out to be a misunderstanding, and current users have received official SMS notices.

The new version mainly improves code generation quality for ArkTS, the language used in HarmonyOS native app development. Beyond the model itself, several core products including AgentArts, CodeArts, and OfficeAce will also be connected to this flagship model.

According to an earlier Huawei Cloud announcement, the openPangu-2.0-Flash and openPangu-2.0-Pro models will stop selling in November 2026 and go offline at the end of that month. The company said at the time that new versions were already planned. Xiaoyi Work is the first to use openPangu-2.1-Pro, focusing on HarmonyOS task enhancement.
