Jev model heats up decision AI race, faces copying claims
After TypeSafe launched its Jev model, a wave of similar 'decision AI' models quickly showed up. Microsoft rolled out Microsoft Decision, OpenAI launched Decisions API, and Cloudflare Clef uses open weights, so users can run it on their own hardware.
These models don't write text token by token or keep chat history. They just return a probability result and can handle tasks in parallel, so they are faster and cheaper. TypeSafe says Jev runs 193 times faster than a standard large language model and costs 445 times less.
But Jev now faces copying claims. ConvAI Innovations' founder says his SalesRLAgent paper from March 2025 already proposed a probability estimation model, with open weights and datasets. He then launched an open-source model called Laya on the same day Jev came out. Laya can run on users' own hardware and supports many languages.
