Korean Go star loses first game to AI KataGo
On July 17, South Korea's top Go player Shin Jin-seo faced AI KataGo in Seoul and lost the first game after 245 moves. The match gave Shin a two-stone handicap and let him play black. KataGo used unusual moves from the start and won with its strong computing power. The Korea Baduk Association organized this event, marking ten years since AlphaGo beat Lee Sedol. All three games will be played regardless of results, with next matches on July 19 and 21. In 2016, Lee Sedol lost 1-4 to AlphaGo, and in 2017, Ke Jie lost 0-3. Since then, AI has become a training tool for professional players.
