Kunlun Wanwei's Fang Han: Doubao Phone Failed Due to Lack of Channels, Smart Cars Unlikely to Be Next Big Channel
Fang Han, chairman and general manager of Kunlun Wanwei, recently said the Doubao Phone was doomed to fail from day one due to a lack of distribution channels. He pointed out that the phone was blocked by all Chinese mobile phone manufacturers within a week of its launch—since these manufacturers control the operating systems, which underscores the importance of channels in the Chinese market.
Fang Han also doesn't believe smart cars will become the next major channel. He argues that the average daily car usage time is less than an hour, far lower than that of mobile phones, computers, or TVs. Additionally, China isn't a car-centric country; the benefits of large car screens and energy efficiency can't make up for their lack of portability, so they won't qualify as a big channel.
Earlier, Doubao (a ByteDance product) and ZTE released an engineering prototype called Nubia M153, which featured the technical preview of Doubao Phone Assistant. This assistant leverages Doubao's large model capabilities to deliver more convenient user interactions.
