Manus Parent Company Raises Over $500 Million in New Funding
Butterfly Effect, the parent company of AI agent Manus, has closed a new funding round of over 500 million US dollars. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round, with existing backers Tencent, Sequoia China, and ZhenFund joining again.
Manus went viral soon after launching in March 2025. In June that year, the company moved its headquarters to Singapore, cut its China team, and stopped services in China. In April, the foreign investment review office under China's NDRC rejected a foreign acquisition of the Manus project and asked for the deal to be cancelled.
Bloomberg reported that the founding team, together with Tencent, HSG, and ZhenFund, later bought back all shares at a 2 billion dollar valuation, making Tencent the largest outside investor. After completing its split from Meta in September, Manus is back as an independent company and will keep building AI agent products for users around the world.
