Marvell wants to connect AI data centers thousands of miles apart with light
As AI data centers keep growing, chip company Marvell revealed a new plan at Computex 2026 in Taipei. They want to use light connections to link data centers thousands of miles apart into one big pool of resources.
Marvell CEO Matt Murphy said light connections will become a key way for data centers to work together across regions. If this works, cloud providers can share computing, storage, and network power from different places, making things more efficient and flexible for big AI tasks.
Marvell already has the Ara 1.6 Tb/s interconnect solution (using 3nm DSP) and the Teralynx T100 102.4 Tb/s Ethernet switch, which supports 512 ports at 200 Gb/s or 64 ports at 1.6 Tb/s. Earlier, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Marvell could be the next trillion-dollar company.
