Meta and Broadcom Expand AI Chip Collaboration to Launch Industry's First 2nm AI Accelerator
Meta and Broadcom, two U.S. companies, announced an expanded partnership on the MTIA series AI XPU, with Broadcom set to launch the industry's first 2nm AI computing accelerator.
Currently, Nvidia plans to skip the regular 2nm process; its future Feynman GPU will use TSMC's SPR super rail technology. AMD's Instinct MI series accelerators will adopt 2nm starting from the MI400 generation, and the subsequent MI500 will also use a derivative process.
By pursuing cutting-edge processes in the MTIA series, Meta aims to make up for its latecomer disadvantage and accelerate its catch-up with competitors like Google, Nvidia, and AMD.
