Meta Forms Independent Hardware Team to Advance AI Device Layout and Superintelligence Business

Meta is forming an independent hardware team for its superintelligence business, bringing in a senior engineer to lead and further advance its AI device layout. This move comes from Meta Superintelligence Labs established last year, signaling that Meta not only focuses on models but also considers more AI hardware forms.

Some engineers from Reality Labs have transferred to the Superintelligence Lab to develop AI software prototypes using existing hardware, with high collaboration between the two teams. Meta has hired Rui Xu as the hardware head, who previously led smart device businesses at Dreamer, ByteDance, Xiaomi, and other companies.

Alexandr Wang, head of the Superintelligence Lab, stated that Meta aims to build a multi-device AI ecosystem where personalized AI agents stay with users at all times, no longer centered on smartphones. Progress will accelerate in the coming months.
