Meta releases Muse Spark Open, its strongest open AI model yet
Meta has released Muse Spark Open, an open-weight AI model that the company calls the strongest open-weight model ever built in the US. It uses a native multimodal architecture with 816B total parameters, 42B active, and supports a 1M token context window.
The model is built for coding and agent teamwork, doing well on long tasks and complex software work. Thanks to the MLX framework, it can run locally on a desktop with just two Mac Studio machines using Apple M5 Ultra chips.
Developers can call the model through several API platforms, and its weights are available for download on Hugging Face and other sites. It works with major inference engines and is optimized for AMD, Apple, Intel, and Nvidia chips.
The model got stronger safety training, and its weights are released under the Muse Model License with some commercial limits. Most developers can get and use it for free.
