Meta's Muse AI now supports real-time voice chats and avatars
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the personal AI assistant Muse now supports real-time voice chats and expressive avatars. The features are rolling out to US users first, across mobile, web, and Mac apps.
Users can tap the phone icon in the app to talk to Muse like a phone call, and can interrupt it anytime. They can choose voice only, show the avatar next to the chat, or switch to a full-screen face-to-face mode. The default avatar is a cartoon character named Jolly, with hundreds of voice styles.
The update is powered by the Muse Realtime Voice model and the Muse Realtime Avatar model. The system streams vertical video at 448×768 resolution and 25 frames per second, with a response delay of about 870 milliseconds.
Meta says this makes talking to an AI assistant feel more natural. Users can set tasks by voice while their hands are busy, use it for brainstorming or trip planning, and even share dancing avatar clips to Instagram and other platforms.
