Fei-Fei Li's World Labs Launches Frameboy, Explore AI 3D Worlds in Your Browser
World Labs, founded by Fei-Fei Li, known as the 'Godmother of AI', released a multimodal world model called Atlas in September. It can generate images and video frames with precise camera control and rebuild them in 3D.
Two months later, the company launched a demo called Frameboy. Users can try it on the web and explore multimodal worlds in real time, streaming at up to 15 frames per second from cloud GPUs.
Frameboy works like a game console. Users click different 'game cartridges' to enter different worlds and explore freely after a short load. It supports touch and keyboard controls. Right now, it runs on powerful cloud GPU servers, so costs are still high compared to local rendering.
If frame rates improve and costs drop in the future, anyone might be able to build a virtual world and explore it right in a browser.
