Microsoft's $7.3B AI Data Center Hit with Noise Lawsuit by Neighbors

Microsoft's $7.3 billion Fairwater data center in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, touted as the world's most powerful AI hub, is facing a lawsuit from three nearby residents over excessive noise. The neighbors claim the facility's diesel generators and HVAC systems create a constant hum, like a parked freight train, disrupting their lives 24/7.

Microsoft says it has fixed the noise issue and is committed to being a good neighbor, but the residents filed the lawsuit on July 1. With plans to build up to 15 data centers in the area, the company may face more community conflicts ahead.
