Microsoft's MAI models beat top AI, cut costs for businesses

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says the company's MAI models have outperformed top AI in many applications. He says Microsoft is pushing a 'Frontier Diffusion & Control' strategy, believing customers won't rely on a single model but will pick the best AI for each task. In products like GitHub Copilot and Excel, MAI models learned from real customer workflows through custom training and made big progress. Nadella says for common Excel tasks, MAI models perform like GPT-5.6 and can run on Nvidia H100/A100 GPUs, cutting deployment costs. In Microsoft products, models from OpenAI and Anthropic work with MAI in one system.
