Microsoft's 'World's Strongest' AI Data Center Fairwater Launches Early to Support Cutting-Edge AI Model Training
Microsoft President and CEO Satya Nadella recently announced the early launch of Fairwater, the world's most powerful AI data center in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA. With a total investment of $3.3 billion, it is equipped with hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 super chips—its performance is ten times that of the world's fastest supercomputer—and will be used to train cutting-edge AI models.
Spanning 127.6 hectares, Fairwater has three buildings with a combined roof area of 111,000 square meters and uses closed-loop liquid cooling systems. Microsoft also plans to build more similar data centers in other parts of the US.
