Mistral AI CEO Visits Samsung in Korea with Macron's Delegation to Discuss AI Semiconductor Supply Chain Cooperation
Arthur Mensch, co-founder and CEO of European AI firm Mistral AI, visited South Korea as part of French President Macron's delegation. On April 2, he met key Samsung Electronics executives including Vice Chairman and CEO Kwon Young-hyun at the company's Hwaseong campus.
The two sides discussed AI semiconductor storage chip supply chains and technical cooperation plans. As a leading European AI enterprise, Mistral AI requires large amounts of XPU computing chips for its operations, while Samsung is a major manufacturer of memory products like HBM—direct communication helps stabilize chip supply. Additionally, semiconductor supply chain firm ASML is interested in using Mistral's AI technology; if Samsung and Mistral collaborate in this area, it will boost operational efficiency.
