Moonshot AI's annual revenue tops $1 billion, driven by Kimi K3
Chinese AI company Moonshot AI has seen a breakthrough with its Kimi K3 model released in July. Its annual recurring revenue jumped from $300 million in June to over $1 billion in August. According to Bloomberg, the company plans to increase annualized revenue several times to $2 billion by the end of this year, putting more pressure on competitors like Anthropic and Zhipu.
People familiar with the matter say that as consumer and enterprise interest in Kimi subscriptions and hosted models continues to rise, the company expects sales to double again. Moonshot AI is raising funds at a $50 billion valuation and may go public in Hong Kong as early as this year.
Cloud service providers could also become a new revenue source. Under the Kimi K3 license, companies that commercially host the model and earn over $20 million in 12 months must sign a separate agreement. Reuters reported last month that Moonshot AI is in talks with Microsoft, Amazon, and Google for a 30% revenue share.
