Multiple Paid ChatGPT Accounts Suspended, OpenAI Yet to Explain

Several users have recently reported on Reddit and OpenAI's developer community that their ChatGPT accounts were suddenly deactivated, including Pro users who pay $200 a month. Some said they received no warning before the ban, and their chat history and work files became inaccessible.

One Pro user said the system only showed an error code with no warning email. He suspects it was linked to using VPN nodes from different regions to access ChatGPT and Codex, but that's just his guess. Another user was suspended for allegedly being linked to a banned account, and his appeal was rejected about an hour after he submitted it.

OpenAI support said it can't handle such appeals publicly because of account privacy, so users need to use the link in the ban email or an official form. The official help center lists possible reasons, including policy violations, bypassing security limits, and account security issues. Accessing the service from unsupported regions is also a clear risk. OpenAI has not yet given a unified explanation or said how many users are affected.
