Musk's remarks imply Claude Opus may have 5 trillion parameters, 10 times that of Grok4.2
Recently, Musk revealed in a reply on X that Grok4.2 has 0.5 trillion parameters—half of Anthropic's Claude Sonnet and one-tenth of Claude Opus. This implies Claude Opus may have 5 trillion parameters, though Anthropic hasn't publicly confirmed this.
Musk also mentioned SpaceX AI's Colossus2 supercomputer cluster is training 7 models simultaneously, with the largest being 10 trillion parameters, adding there's "some catching up to do". If the estimate holds, Claude Opus would be the largest deployed model by parameters, while xAI's in-development models could spark a new round of AI competition.
