Musk vs. OpenAI Lawsuit: William Savitt, Lawyer Who Beat Musk Before, Defends Sam Altman

In Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI, Sam Altman has hired William Savitt, the lawyer who defeated Musk in the Twitter acquisition case, as lead litigation attorney. Savitt is a partner at top Wall Street law firm Wachtell Lipton, defending Altman and OpenAI this time.

Musk accuses OpenAI of turning from a non-profit lab into a 'corporate giant', while Savitt argues Musk wants to dismantle OpenAI to boost his own xAI.

Savitt was once a rock band singer and taxi driver before becoming a top corporate litigation lawyer. He participated in OpenAI's restructuring of its profit division into a public benefit corporation—one of the core changes Musk is trying to reverse.
