New Windows Malware VOLTA Uses AI to Analyze Data, Then Deletes Itself

Cisco's Talos security team has found a new Windows malware called VOLTA. It uses AI models to analyze victims' personal data and tries to delete itself after finishing its work, making it harder to detect and track. The malware collects browsing history, crypto wallets, chat logs and other sensitive data, then uploads files to online AI tools like Anthropic's Claude to create summaries for hackers. After that, it wipes itself out to hide its tracks. Cisco Talos says AI is changing how hackers work. Instead of mass random attacks, they can use AI to find the most valuable targets, putting big companies and executives at higher risk of precise attacks. Regular users should stay alert too. Browsing history, shopping habits and social connections can still be used to build profiles, helping attackers plan more targeted scams and making personal data protection even harder.
