NVIDIA to invest extra $2 billion in Europe, Jensen Huang meets Macron
According to Bloomberg, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced an extra $2 billion investment during his Europe trip. He met French President Macron, and they discussed investment in France, open-source software, and AI safety.
NVIDIA has put $8 billion into Europe over the past year and will now add more. It is also funding four French startups: Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic, covering healthcare, robotics, business software, and materials research.
Huang believes Europe should build open-source models to catch up with US AI technology. NVIDIA is a key partner of France's Mistral AI, whose newest model was trained on 4,000 Grace Blackwell chips.
Public concerns about AI risks and data center energy use are growing in Europe. Huang expects physical AI, like humanoid robots, to become NVIDIA's next big market.
