OpenAI CEO and CFO Disagree on IPO Timing: CEO Wants Q4 Listing This Year, CFO Worries About Insufficient Preparation
According to The Information, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and CFO Sarah Friar have disagreed on the pace of the company's IPO. Altman hopes to go public as early as the fourth quarter of this year and has promised to invest $600 billion over the next five years; however, Friar believes the company is not ready for an IPO in 2026, as relevant preparations are incomplete.
Friar also expressed concerns about the huge spending commitment. She questioned whether such a large amount of funds is needed for AI server purchases in the coming years and whether the slowing revenue growth can support these expenditures. Additionally, it remains unknown whether the company's $122 billion investment commitment can ease some of these concerns.
