OpenAI executive says better AI means people can work way fewer hours
The AI race has many tech workers putting in long hours, but OpenAI's enterprise product lead Alexander Embiricos sees it differently. As AI keeps getting better, he says people can choose to work harder, or hand tasks over to AI and work much less. Speaking at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, he explained that OpenAI's agent dots is built as a 24/7 workplace assistant that handles tasks and sorts out to-do lists on its own. He often talks with his own dots through Slack. Asked when AI will really give people more free time, he said people can simply let AI do the work. The report notes that companies are still early in adopting AI tools. Most haven't automated tasks yet, and many workers are still figuring out how much to rely on AI. Early adopters can already finish work that once took days or weeks, especially in software engineering.
