OpenAI open-sources Plant Talk, letting your houseplants chat with ChatGPT
OpenAI has open-sourced a project called Plant Talk on GitHub that lets your houseplants 'talk' through ChatGPT. To set it up, you need a computer with Codex Desktop, a stable internet connection, an OpenAI account, plus a mic, camera, and speakers. You can also add an Arduino, soil moisture sensor, and light sensor for extra data.
After typing a simple command, the system handles the download and setup. Once ready, Plant Talk becomes a control center for your plants. You can ask them things like 'Do you need water?' or 'Is the light good?' It also supports CO2 and humidity sensors, and lets you create plant personalities like a cool cactus or a chatty pothos.
